FARMER’S TABLE: SALADS, FLATBREADS, AND MORE AT THIS HEALTH-CONSCIOUS BOCA RATON EATERY

The Cost -$25 per person

The Atmosphere – With an indoor space that gives off a bit of an elegant farm vibe and a large outdoor space that includes a lounge-like area, Farmer’s Table creates a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere in which to enjoy a meal no matter where you choose to sit. The restaurant doesn’t require formal attire and typical Boca Raton/Palm Beach attire (think shorts and a polo or top) will do just fine. Farmer’s Table takes reservations through Open Table or on its website.

It isn’t always easy to find healthy and organic food options at restaurants in Florida. However, Farmer’s Table in Boca Raton prides itself on preparing healthy foods in tasty ways. The restaurant, which also has a second location in North Palm Beach, offers a variety of salads, flatbreads, and main courses that span an eclectic mix of cuisines though it mainly serves Modern American fare. It is also a very vegetarian and vegan-friendly place as there are quite a few vegetarian and vegan options, as well as substitutes, on the menu.

The Order – Cauliflower Brie Flatbread and Grass-Fed Beef Short Rib.

The Great – Out of the two dishes that were ordered, the Grass-Fed Beef Short Rib was the better one. A slow-cooked beef short rib that came with roasted Brussels sprouts and maple whipped sweet potatoes. The dish also had a really nice mushroom bordelaise, a French sauce that uses red wine from Bordeaux as its base. The beef was tender and tasted great and with the delicious sweet potatoes and the Brussels sprouts, it was a complete meal that was very satisfying and something I’d definitely order again.

The Good – The Cauliflower Brie Flatbread wasn’t as good as the short rib, but it certainly wasn’t bad. While I was expecting more of a Turkish oval-shaped flatbread, what came out was a large, round flatbread that looked much like a pizza. The bread was topped with roasted cauliflower pieces, fig jam, caramelized onions, and some arugula. While the flavors and textures here were good, it wasn’t anything that will blow you away.

The Verdict – Between its atmosphere and food, Farmer’s Table provides its diners with a nice dining experience and feels very much like a go-to neighborhood restaurant. It isn’t an inexpensive meal, but I wouldn’t say that it is overpriced either. It’s a solid spot for dinner if you find yourself in the Boca Raton area.
