ABD EL WAHAB: LEBANESE FOOD IN DUBAI WITH A VIEW OF THE BURJ FOUNTAINS

The Cost - $23 per person

The Atmosphere – The inside of the restaurant is nothing special but the patio, which overlooks the fountain, presents a unique and memorable dining experience. Just know that due to the extreme heat, you will not want to sit outside during the summer months.

Dubai has a large number of Lebanese restaurants but few, if any, offer the setting that the Abd El Wahab (@abdelwahabuae) location at Souk Al Bahar does. With the restaurant offering the possibility to have a traditional Lebanese meal while watching the famous Dubai Fountain, I figured I needed to try it.

The Order - Hummus, Makanek, Raw Meat Kebbeh, Arayess Kafta, Kafta Kheshkhash, and a Cheese Kunafa for dessert.

The Fantastic - The Raw Meat Kebbeh which is made with bulgar wheat, onions and spices, was absolutely delicious. The Kafta Kheshkhash was fantastic as well; the grilled lamb was very good and it was served in a spicy tomato sauce with fresh parsley and onion that really made this dish stand out.

The Great - The Makanek, a Lebanese sausage dish with a pomegranate sauce, was a nice appetizer. The sauce was a little sweet and a little bitter and was a unique and tasty pairing for the sausage. While there wasn’t anything extraordinary about the hummus, it had a lovely consistency and was presented nicely; the whole chickpeas in the center was a nice touch.

The Good - The Arayess Kafta, a thin bread stuffed with meat, was similar to hawashi. Luckily, the bread was thin so that you could taste the meat but compared to the Kebbeh and Kafta Khashkhesh, I thought this dish was a little bland. The Cheese Kunafa, sweet and savory melted cheese with phyllo dough in a rose syrup, was a nice end to the meal but I didn’t love the cheese that was used and wanted more sweetness in my dessert.

The Verdict - The food at Abd El Wahab is excellent. It’s not easy to find a great value in Dubai but for $23 a person, this meal was a bargain. When you add in the restaurant’s incredible location and the view of the fountains, Abd El Wahab at Souk Al Bahar is certainly a recommended dining experience.
